Riverside Arts Market

Sunday, May 10th, 2009 | Event Wrap Up | No Comments

pict4414This weekend i was able to make it to the Riverside Arts Market. I was very impressed with some of the Art Work. If you are looking for some wonderful unique art work for you home this is the place to check out. I mean the art work was so cool, exciting and vivid. There were also very unique things on display as well.  Parking wasn’t bad at all, it didn’t take us long to find a parking space. The people were very nice including vendors. Now i always make mention of this because all to often i go to a place and the people misrepresent the event with there attitude, or how they come off and here it was chill. You felt at home. There were so many different things to look at and try, from all natural sunscreen, to unique hot dogs. The Riverside Arts Market has something for everyone. There was live music in like 3 different locations. The view under the bridge of the River was Great!. If you wanted to relax and just people watch it was the perfect spot or if you just wanted to have a bit while sitting there it was all good. There were more than enough vendors to satisfy any craving you had from pizza, funnel cake, bar-b-Que and then some. My boys had pizza and i tried the Blue Crab Bisque it was good i just wish it had more crab. The food prices were not high, everything i feel was affordable. There was a guy there who allowed himself to be wrapped up in like 3 chains not to mention he was in a straight jacket on top of that and within 4 mins he was able to get him self free. The kids loved it. He had a crowd around seeing if he could do. It was great. The fresh fruits and veg looked and smelled great. I loved everything about the Market and i look forward to going back next Saturday. I will say if you haven’t been yet please make it your business to check it out soon because it’s not going to be around long. Now when you come please make sure you bring some money, because there are so many things worth buying from clothes to jewels, shoes you name it you will find it there. Now i wasn’t able to stay long because  my son was a bit under the weather but check out the pictures. See you this Saturday.

Event Wrap Up: Yappy Hour

Monday, April 20th, 2009 | Event Wrap Up | No Comments
Let me start off by saying I had a fabulous time at Yappy Hour. The people were great and the dogs even greater. There were so many dogs it was bananas. Anyone that is an animal lover would have loved this event, kids and adults alike. Yappy Hour brought to mind Go, Dog. Go! by P.D. Eastman. In this book towards the end of the story all these dogs are going fast in there cars, and the question is what are they going to do? Where are those dogs going? A dog party a big dog party! Big dogs, little dogs, red dogs, blue dogs, yellow dogs, green dogs , black dogs, and white dogs are all at a dog party! What a dog party! And that’s what it was at the Jacksonville Landing.
dsci0533 I met some pretty cool people and their pets. Carole and Kibbi were one of the first I had the pleasure of meeting at this awesome event. Carole works with the Akita Rescue Society of Florida and she has 3 of these big beautiful dogs in her home. Check out Kibbi! This pic really does not do Kibby any justice. Kibby is huge!

dsci0536 This is Ziggy! Ziggy brought along with him Elizabeth. Ziggy was not to sure about me taking his photo at first but he later decided to let me get a pic. Thanks Ziggy!

dsci0552 Patrick and his dad Adam were also seen at Yappy Hour with their two doggies Bailey and Dakota. I think Patrick might be the next dog whisper.

dsci0555 This is Lucky and Tonya! He is so Cute! Later on that day I almost stepped on him. Good thing I didn’t.

dsci0537 This is C.L Enuton and she was there with Augie and Xia. She is the author of a real cool book named “Angels in a Fur Coat”. The book is about doggies having to earn their coats in heaven and then they come down to find the perfect owner. I think it will give you a different perspective on dog ownership. To learn more about this great book, you can check out her web site and her cute videos at Gooberella.com.

dsci0535 This is Woody he brought with him Jason. Woody was one of the first to get wet at the Fountain. It was a bit hot out.

dsci0568 There were also a few dogs out looking for owners from the human society. I wish I could have adopted one. If you know of someone that is looking for a dog, tell them to come check out these pics and then head on out to the human society or animal shelter to adopt their the new BFF!dsci0573

dsci0539 This is Mimi and Casey. Thanks for the pic.

dsci0542 Check out this Great Dane! Today was his 2nd Birthday. He had 2 other Greats with him. They were awesome to watch.

dsci0538 The helper doggies were out as well. Here is a pic of Donna with her 3 helper doggies Clifford, Rookie and Huey.dsci0033

Here are some more cool pics. I have a ton of pictures for you to view. So log back on tomorrow to view more pics from Yappy Hour at the Jacksonville Landing.

Fast & Furious

Friday, April 3rd, 2009 | Movie On Us | No Comments

I went to WhaTaDu.com Movie On Us to see the Fast & Furious. Now let me say that I have never been into these types of action movies. My friend thinks Vin is the bomb! Omg! She can go on and on about him all day. Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised, this movie was definitely Fast & Furious. It was exciting, it had total audience involment, it was funny, it was an all around great movie. The cars and and Paul Walker were the best part to me. I was so feeling the yellow car ( I wish I could tell you what make and model it was). The blue car (pauls Car) was off the chain too.

Well the event was sold out and I have to say sorry to anyone who couldn’t get in.  When the movie was over I was asking people what they thought about the movie they said it was great, they were going to see it again on Friday…so everyone really loved this movie. The WAPE 95.1 was there. They were a very nice crew. Our family from EU was there. They were great as well and helpful too. I meet a lot of cool down to earth people. I just wish I could have talked to more of the people.

None the less I am happy everyone had a great time and that the movie was a big hit. So go tell someone and tell them to get in gear and go see this movie. It’s Hot for all the right reason.  This movie will not disappoint!

Up Late

Friday, March 20th, 2009 | Uncategorized | No Comments

I am so looking forward to the weekend.  There is so much going on and so much still to come. I am also excited about the Fast & Furious. I’am excited about WhaTaDu. God Is Good!! I am kinda disappointed about the weather it’s suppose to be a high 60 degrees, for me that’s cold. Plus I don’t want to take the kids out on the beach because they have just gotten over their colds. so what I think I am going to do is just take them to Adventure Landing and from there visit family and let the kids play and enjoy begin with their cousins. Then I will hit the beach to take care of business.  Then get ready to head out to the Twisted Martini downtown and hit Mavericks.

Oh! guest what there is going to be a RIP THE RUNWAY type event soon! I was too excited when I saw that, because my husband and I talked about someone doing something like that and it’s so cool to see someone doing that here in Jacksonville.

Also, First Fridays-Remixed is doing an All White Party. Now I know what you are thinking. I didn’t like my last experience, but you know if its done right it can be off the hook! I already have expectations and I am hoping that it will not disappoint. So be on the look out for that. I am so looking forward to attending. I am going to post it next week for you all to check out. So if the event is anything like the flyer WOW! I Can’t wait. I would like to be the one working the crowd. I want to take interviews with you and what you are wearing.  Rip the runway! Jacksonville! :)  I will post it on the blog before the weekend is over. Well it’s late. I should have been in bed a long time ago with all that I have to do.

Good-Night and  May God Bless you and yours. Peace…

Jess

Are You Serious!

Thursday, March 19th, 2009 | Uncategorized | No Comments

OMG!

Let me start off with this First Friday!

I have never had a night like I had when I attend First Fridays. I went as a guest with someone. We were told to be there before 11pm because it was and is always crowded and after 11pm they wouldn’t be able to get us in, I guess due to begin busy. So we get there before 11pm and we are standing outside waiting to get into a place that we thought knew we were coming, have us on a list or something. After waiting for 30 minutes, you know I’m pissed but trying to be a good guest because I would have left after waiting 2 mins. I mean Damn, once again I thought they knew we were coming, but we can’t get in.

So as we are waiting I notice that the VIP line with Reservations was jam packed with people waiting to get in. People that took the time to get their tickets early and RSVP could not get in. Security was letting people that didn’t have tickets in before people that didn’t. Basically, letting in thier buddies and ladies they want to holla at. Friends that came together or came to hook up here were seperated. I saw and heard friends saying I’m trying to get you in and stuff like I don’t know what’s going on.  It was crazy.

Just as quickly as people came they were leaving because the line was so long . The security officers were acting nuts and rude to those questioning why in the hell they couldn’t get into the club. People were pissed off, mad words were exchanged and people were disrespected for wanting to spend thier money. Not once did someone say to the line “we are at capacity” which they were over.

Inside it was wall to wall people, so much so people had to hang out in the lobby which means it was hard as hell to get a drink. The Staff were having disagreements amoung themselves in front of the patrons. The whole night sucked for a ton of people that paid money to come to this event and then have to wait for over an hour or more to get in and then once pass the bullshit have to go in and be packed like Sardines. Oh I need not forget to mention that Mr. John Henderson (former Jacksonville Jaguar) himself attend this event and he came out the club pissed off at how he was begin treated.  WHAT? YES!

This was not an upscale event. This was not a fun night. People that had tickets were asking for their money back. I mean this was a joke. Then as the night came to an end they let the rest of the crowd come in for $20.00. By now the club is closing in an hour so it should have been free (just greedy). Please. The only reason why I stayed and was able to view and report all this was because my friend had business to take care of in the club.  So for all thoes that came out to First Fridays and hung around in the weather as long as they did, I give mad props. I will say that there were some beautiful, handsome, sexy people out that night (I’m told its always sexy)! Too bad the night didn’t go as well as they looked.

So people, please don’t feel you have to deal with such things there are too many off the meter clubs to go to that you don’t have to stand in line for 2-3 hours to attend. All I am saying is, have some respect for your line. Let them know often what is going on so they aren’t under the impression that they can get in soon. Be curtious and respectful of peoples time and money. Let everyone in line know you are at capacity and can’t let anyone else in. Give them the option to leave or stay. Stop being so damn greedy trying to hold your line until you can charge them $20 for an hour of crowded partying.

Anyway, I had a wonderful time at Marks downtown. It was a nice mixed crowd. Everyone was having a great time dancing and mingling, plus the DJ had you on your feet all night playing a great mix hit after hit. The Apple Martinis were right. I did have one where old girl half assed it, but over all it was a fun night. I will be going back to Marks.
